"Everything is Edible, at Least Once" : Foraging in the English Countryside

Just like foreign policy, in the world of food facts, there are known knowns and known unknowns. In this post, from a recent adventure foraging with my daughter at Daylesford outside of London, I'll share some of the "known knowns."

This is wood sorrel, which has a delicious lemony flavour.

This is shepherd's purse, which seemed to serve more as "bulk."

Shepherd's purse, the leaves of which add to a salad but seemed to serve mostly as "bulk."

Here, some ground ivy, which has a wonderful spicy flavour.

And probably my favourite, garlic flower, which I think is the same as what we call wild leeks. Very fragrant. We used both for a soup and for pesto.
